New Leadership-Focused Endowment Fund to Honor Kim Bourne

1/29/2026

The Taylorville Memorial Foundation has announced the creation of the Kim Bourne Emerging Leaders Endowment Fund after the Taylorville Memorial Hospital president and CEO retired Jan. 9.

Foundation director Katie Champion Williams created the new fund after several donors and hospital Auxiliary members approached her with the idea of honoring Bourne with an endowment that would support leadership development activities.

“Kim really wanted the fund to focus on professional development opportunities for individuals newer to leadership roles, less than five years,” Williams said. “We have designed the endowment to help them build confidence, strengthen their skillsets and grow into exceptional leaders who will shape the future of healthcare.”

Bourne began her career at Springfield Memorial Hospital in 1989 and held leadership roles with food and nutrition, patient transport and patient safety before being named president and CEO of TMH. In 2011, she received the Woody Hester Legacy of Leadership Award, which recognizes Memorial Health leaders for exemplary vision, guidance and embodiment of Memorial’s values.

Instilling confidence through stretch assignments, valuing people and being accessible were just some of the lessons Bourne incorporated into her own leadership style during her career at Memorial Health.

“The possibility of providing experiences to encourage someone just getting started in leadership really appealed to me,” Bourne said about the endowment. “Offering resources so colleagues can gain some formal leadership training beyond on-the-job experience, trying something new that will expand their perspective – that is an investment that will continue to make a difference.”
