Donor support to the Springfield Memorial Hospital Foundation enabled Springfield Memorial Hospital (SMH) to provide lifesaving breast cancer screenings for eligible women throughout the area during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
The hospital conducted a total of 1,038 mammograms with 31 free mammograms provided through the Mammogram Mondays program – fully funded by the Springfield Memorial Foundation thanks to generous donor support. These screenings provided access to essential care for uninsured and underinsured patients who otherwise may not have been able to afford it.
“Mammogram Mondays are just one example of how local donor support drives meaningful change in our community,” said Pam Hulten, director of the Springfield Memorial Foundation. “This is how preventive care and philanthropy work hand-in-hand to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.”
Mammogram Mondays reflects SMH’s ongoing commitment to improving community health through preventive care. Hospital foundation funding helps SMH offer free or reduced-cost mammograms for uninsured or underinsured women each year.
The Springfield Memorial Foundation continues to welcome donations to sustain programs including Mammogram Mondays and expand access to preventive care for the entire community. To learn more or make a gift, visit: https://memorial.health\smf.
