Donor support to the Decatur Memorial Foundation enabled Decatur Memorial Hospital (DMH) to provide lifesaving breast cancer screenings for eligible women throughout Macon County during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
DMH conducted a total of 925 mammograms with 26 free mammograms provided through the Mammogram Mondays program – fully funded by the Decatur Memorial Foundation through generous donor support. These screenings provided access to essential care for uninsured and underinsured patients who otherwise may not have been able to afford it.
“This is a powerful reminder of how preventive care and community philanthropy work hand-in-hand to create impact,” said Paul Lidy, director of Decatur Memorial Foundation. “Thank you to our local donors for making this work possible and a special shout-out to our radiology team at DMH for their dedication and compassion in delivering these lifesaving screenings.”
Mammogram Mondays reflect DMH’s ongoing commitment to improving community health through preventive care. Foundation funding helps the hospital offer free or reduced-cost mammograms for uninsured or underinsured women each year.
“These screenings help save lives right here in our own community,” said Tanya Andricks, president and CEO of DMH. “We are so very grateful for the power of local giving and the lasting impact it has on the health of our community.”
