Rita Callan, medical lab scientist at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, is the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month for September.

Callan is highly regarded for her expertise in the lab. She helps train new graduates, oversees the Blood Bank, provides guidance and consistently keeps the lab up to date with the latest trends and technology.

“Rita has helped me multiple times, stopping what she’s doing to hold the door for me,” wrote a colleague in the nomination. “She doesn’t give a second thought to acts of kindness – she embodies them. Her integrity is something we should all strive to achieve.”

Callan has worked for Taylorville Memorial Hospital since 2017.
