Kaitlyn Micek, a surgical technologist at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, is the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month for December.
Micek is appreciated for her reliability in both surgery and sterile processing. She is a knowledgeable educator and effective communicator about processes. She orders required items for the department, sterilizes instruments, prepares necessary items for procedures and assists the surgeon as needed.
“Kaitlyn understands that everything she does impacts patient outcomes, from sterilizing instruments to maintaining the sterile field to prevent infections,” wrote her nominator. “Her knowledge of surgical procedures allows her to anticipate needs. She always stays calm, composed and responsive.”
Micek has worked for Taylorville Memorial Hospital since 2018.
