Memorial Specialty Care Physicians to Host Free Colorectal Cancer Educational Event

6/12/2025

Decatur Memorial Hospital and Memorial Specialty Care are inviting the public to a free event focusing on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer.

“Your Health, Your Future: A Colorectal Cancer Awareness Community Event” will be hosted by gastroenterologist Nathan Pyle, DO, and colorectal surgeon Ranjodh Singh, MD. They will give an overview of screening tests for the disease, as well as how it is diagnosed and treated.

“Everyone age 45 or older should be screened regularly for colorectal cancer, which is increasingly affecting a younger population,” said Dr. Pyle. “Our goal is to help people understand how they can reduce their risk.”

“Individuals with a family history of colorectal cancer, or a history of polyps, have a higher risk and should be more aware of screening recommendations and symptoms,” Dr. Singh said. “Awareness is crucial.”

The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, in Classrooms A and B at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Registration is encouraged at memorial.health/events.
