Third Annual Summerfest to Take Place June 11

5/27/2025

The third annual Summerfest for children and their families will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at Community Park. The event will feature activities, giveaways and a chance to celebrate community health and wellness during Community Health Improvement Week.

“We encourage everyone to come out and have fun plus learn more about all the different resources available,” said Claire Peak, community health consultant for Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. “We will have organizations present to talk about the different youth summer camps and activities that are available.”

Also, Prairieland United Way will sponsor a food distribution, and the Central Illinois Food Bank mobile kitchen cart will be available with nutritionist Karen Sibert. Families can sign up for the Salvation Army Back to School Clothing Program (limited to the first 100 kids who live in Morgan County). Free meals will also be available from the Salvation Army Food Canteen in collaboration with Spirit of Faith Soup Kitchen. A bicycle rodeo for the kids will include a skills course and custom license plate station. The Be Aware Wellness Fair will also be taking place.

Summerfest is a Healthy Communities Collaborative event with JMH, Prairieland United Way, Salvation Army, Jacksonville Food Center, Spirit of Faith and the Jacksonville Area Chamber of Commerce.
