The public is invited to join Dr. Robin Riley, a general surgeon with Memorial Specialty Care, for “Hope and Healing for Breast Cancer,” a presentation that will discuss screening guidelines and management of breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, except for skin cancers. It accounts for about 30% (or 1 in 3) of all new female cancers each year, according to the American Cancer Society.
Dr. Riley will hold a question-and-answer session following the presentation, which is free and open to the public.
“There are many screening and treatment options for breast cancer,” Dr. Riley said. “My goal is to share the latest information on best practices for both so that people can be knowledgeable about what is available in the event of a breast cancer diagnosis.”
The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, in Decatur Memorial Hospital Classrooms A and B. Registration is available at memorial.health/dmh-community-education.
