The Memorial Comprehensive Stroke Center and Imaging Services, in partnership with SIU School of Medicine – Neurology and Clinical Radiologists S.C., offers a screening program for aneurysms and strokes.
An estimated six million people in the United States have an un-ruptured brain aneurysm. The annual rate of rupture is 8-10 per 100,000 people or about 30,000 people in the U.S. annually.
Stroke Risk Factors
- High blood pressure or cholesterol
- Coronary or heart disease
- Recurring headaches
- Family history of aneurysms or strokes
- Polycystic kidney disease
The Aneurysm & Stroke Screening Clinic is available Monday through Friday at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Call 217-588-2726 to complete a short, free assessment over the phone with an Imaging team member. A neurologist will review and recommend next steps. You should hear from Imaging within a week with the neurologist’s recommendation. All assessments and recommendations will be sent to your primary care physician.
