Cheyanne Renek, RN, in the Emergency Department at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, is the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month for April.
Renek was nominated by parents of a young patient who needed ED care. The parents praised Renek for providing exceptional nursing care and keeping them informed every step of the way, checking on them frequently with updates.
“She was adamant about advocating for us when we had questions and concerns about how to proceed with the workup,” the nominator wrote. “She always had my daughter’s best interest at heart, and that never wavered. She even gave my daughter a little doll she had knitted or crocheted herself to try and help comfort her.”
The nominator went on to say that ED visits are always stressful, but that Renek “helped create bright, positive points in an otherwise negative situation.”
Renek has worked for Taylorville Memorial Hospital since 2021.
